Photo Restoration
We digitally restore damaged photos by capturing a high quality scan of the original image as a starting point for restoration. You can also provide a scan of your image for us to start from.
We then digitally retouch and fix damaged areas of the photo such as cracks, tears, scratches, etc.
We will also perform color correction where light damage has washed out the original color of a photo, where possible.
We can also edit the content of the photo, such as removing people or objects, or adding missing parts of the image. Once restoration is complete, you will then have an image that can be printed or for use in any way you would like.

Basic Photo Restoration
Adjust faded colors, retouch minor blemishes, tears, cracks and stains. Correct the overall exposure as needed. This example is in good condition to start with, with a minor crack and tear that was retouched, along with minor spot removal and exposure adjustments.

Color & Exposure Restoration
Adjust color fading due to light exposure or harmful framing materials. In this example, this photo was displayed in a collage frame for many years, with part of the imaged masked by a matte. Not only is the primary content light damaged, the matte also damaged the photo.
Projects of this type start at $59 per photo and can vary depending on the complexity of the restoration needed.
Moderate to Severe Photo Restoration
The oldest images are often the most satisfying to restore. These two examples date from the 1880’s and early 1900’s.
The trio in their fancy corsets originated from a small tin type image, with severe surface damage, staining and background damage. A great amount of detail was revealed in this fantastic image, now no longer hidden in box in the closet!
Our severe restoration services can include fixing of major cracks and tears, removal or addition of people and objects and recreation of missing elements in the images, such as faces or body parts.
